AMD Debuts a VR Experience Around Big India Movie Release

Baahubali is one of India’s biggest films, and it is getting a sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which is one of the most technologically sophisticated films ever made. It is the world’s first “trillion pixel film,” and it is getting a virtual reality experience that debuted this week at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

The VR project, dubbed The Sword of Baahubali, shows that virtual reality is having an impact around the world, not just in the U.S. In India, the Baahubali 2: The Conclusion film will debut on April 28 worldwide, and it will be accompanied by a big VR campaign as well that will promote the film and tell a side story in a VR-animated universe.

Arka Media Works, which is making the film, is collaborating with Advanced Micro Devices and Amazon on the VR experience, and they are showing it this week at the Tribeca Immersive program.

Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect of AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group, said in an interview with GamesBeat that the company started working on the project a couple of years ago after one of his visits to India. The filmmakers were re-creating an entire ancient kingdom across 200 acres of land for their film setting. Koduri got to see it, and he wanted AMD to get involved.

“I was blown away at how they re-created this kingdom,” Koduri said. “I thought we had to get it all into VR. We had to re-created it in a game engine to do that, because the sets were created for a film.”

The film’s computer-generated effects are being created on workstations with AMD’s Radeon graphics chips. AMD’s teams also had to create content that could run on high-end hardware in VR in real-time.

“It really looks photorealistic, and that’s what we wanted to achieve in a real-time VR experience,” Koduri said.

The companies are also rolling out VR installations, or location-based entertainment, at lots of cinemas across India using HTC Vive VR headsets. Koduri said he hopes the VR experience will drive more interest in the film, which is already very popular. The trailer for the film already has more than 100 million views, and it’s one of the most viewed trailers of all time.

In the VR experience, fans can ride horses, fight battles, and interactively engage with Baahubali, making this the first full VR experience for any film in India. The fans see the medieval kingdom that is depicted in the film. Two characters (who are not in the film) will greet you, and they have to find the Sword of Baahubali. The character in the film needs to get that sword to be victorious. You get to witness the king’s court, and you have to deal with the attack of a big elephant. The VR experience lasts around 10 minutes.

“In the final sequence of the VR experience, you’ll come face to face with the hero of the film,” Koduri said. “I think that location-based VR will drive interest. For consumers, it’s a five-year journey for […]

Love Cubed VR (Oculus Rift)

Like Cubed VR (Oculus Rift)

“…fun to try out and a nice getting away from standard.”

Comfort Rating: Green
Genre: Action
Size: 759.19 MB

Love Cubed VR (Oculus Rift)

Intro: a long time ago in a virtual galaxy far far away, there was a damsel in distress. And where discover a damsel, there has to be a hero. As with any love stories, things were going good. Then the problems began coming in, plus they held getting bigger.

Review: Sometimes you want some slack from all the crazy action games and frightening horror experiences. Occasionally you merely require an easy love tale to bring your mind from all of it. Prefer Cubed VR is a weird as love stories come. The truth is, a boy cube and a present cube fall in love, but all sorts of opponents are trying to break you up.

The theory is always to smash into all the enemies making use of your very own mind movements of the of a feeling controller. There isn’t any shooting, simply smash into these with movements. While simple to play, it shortly gets crazy and you’ll end up dying several times. Nevertheless the good news is it is possible to update the total amount of damage you certainly can do, as well as the wellness of the individual you will be trying to defend making things only a little simpler.

Verdict: If you take away the ridiculous storyline enjoy Cubed VR is little more than a simple action game. And yet it’s still fun to play and a great getting away from typical. Sadly similar to a sweet love tale, you’ll soon get tired of it and will exactly what everything to finish. But similar to genuine love, in the early days is perhaps all great enjoyable and that causes it to be really worth a download. Especially if you need a fast action filled fling.

FriendShip (Oculus Rift)

Intro: You and your friends (multiplayer) have been in demand of a ship and must work together to help keep the ship afloat.

Review: Games with personal multiplayer aspects like Ubisoft’s celebrity Trek Bridge Crew and FriendShip are created to make VR more personal whenever the truth is it’s simply you alone in VR. The idea of the game is devilish easy by design, but firm doing in fact.

This multiplayer game only sees you accountable for a spaceship that requires countless tinkering to remain energetic. Prior to you is a panel with several switches which can be known as various things and you may get told what to do. Push this, Set this to 2, pull that. But frequently what you’re instructed to do is not in your control interface whatsoever, therefore if so, you need to read it completely so somebody else can perform it. Then, subsequently, they will often review things away you’ll want to do.

Verdict: If you get a good buddy to play with you, this video game can change into a real laugh and often leads to some playful blaming of every various other. Unfortunately it gets boring quickly and had been quite buggy sometimes. But that’s just about all i could get a hold of to hate relating to this online game. It’s a genius idea that has most prospective. I simply hope more individuals begin to play it as it is a little quiet at present.

Sony’s Streaming Service Crackle Jumps Into VR

Sony’s Streaming Service Crackle Jumps Into VR

The free streaming TV network is creating VR content for original programming like Snatch, along with immersive sponsorships for advertisers.

Rupert Grint, known for playing Harry Potter’s witty ginger haired sidekick, Ron Weasley, has left the world of magic behind for the world of VR. Announced last week by Crackle, Sony’s free streaming TV network, original drama series Snatch will be getting an exclusive VR bonus experience on PlayStation VR this summer.

Grint serves as both an actor and an executive producer on the show, based loosely on the popular movie of the same name. Snatch is about a group of on-the-rise young hustlers in London who are thrust into the dangerous, high-stakes world of organized crime. Snatch’s premise, star power (Grint is joined by Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick, Skins’ Luke Pasqualino, and Scream Queens’ Lucien Laviscount, among others), and creative direction helmed by showrunner, writer, and producer Alex De Rakoff helped it earn the title of the network’s most-streamed scripted original series to date.

“Rupert, Luke and the rest of the cast have created memorable characters who truly resonated with our viewers, and we look forward to following their adventures in season two of Snatch, ” said Eric Berger, Crackle, GM and EVP, Digital, Sony Pictures Television Networks, in an announcement for the second season renewal slated for 2018 at the network’s upfront presentation at Sony Square.

Produced with Future Lighthouse, the six-minute immersive experience will transport you into the hustlers’ world of crime and chaos in London. The episode was shot over a span of four days in Manchester, with each actor filming on separate days. During the experience, you become one of the hustlers and have to make a quick decision on whether to try and crack open a safe or run for cover before the cops arrive at the scene.

The network recognizes the appeal and creative possibilities for VR in storytelling, especially in a high stake, high energy show like Snatch. “In VR the viewer has a lot of power and controls the outcome,” said Future Lighthouse CEO Nicolas Alcala. “Our goal is to teleport you alongside Rupert Grint and his thieving friends to make you feel the adrenaline of the heist. We want the viewers to have agency over where they want this caper to go.”

Crackle VR Theater

The latest Snatch VR announcement is all part of a larger push by the network to become the first ad-supported video-on-demand network to provide VR-based advertising opportunities for brands. On the heels of rivals Netflix and Hulu, who have already announced their own VR plans and content rollout, Crackle is developing a virtual theater environment where you can watch videos in a VR headset.

The virtual theater will let you stream Crackle content on a big screen. It’s here that you can probably expect brand advertisement or even 360° video commercials. Crackle mentioned that the VR theater will be developed for smartphones, Google Cardboard, Gear VR and PlayStation VR. Crackle has also ordered a VR special for the original stop-motion animated series “SuperMansion,” exec-produced by Bryan Cranston and Stoopid Buddy Stoodies (“Robot Chicken”).

While you’ll have to wait a few more months before checking out the network’s latest VR content programming, you can head on over to Crackle to see what all the hype is about today.

VRgluv Is A Fully Funded Force Feedback Glove On Kickstarter

Deepening the immersion of virtual reality is something many creators or working on, from finding a natural form of locomotion to delivering realistic physical feedback from these virtual worlds. The latter of the two has been tackled in various forms but a common factor between a majority of the options is a high price tag. The VRgluv, currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign, is an attempt to bring affordable feedback to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

Despite the team behind VRgluv touting this as an affordable haptic device, it doesn’t look like the glove will be without any significant features. It is said to offer complete tracking for every individual finger and will have realistic force feedback for each as well. On top of all that, they aim to make it lightweight, comfortable, and rechargeable all while somehow being wireless as well.

For the “We Got Funded” pricing tier the project’s creators promise a pair of VRgluvs for $369 (limited to 400 pairs). The “Kickstarter” special promises a pair at $399, described as being a “20% reduction off the retail price”. If this glove operates as they say with minimal lag, this price sounds like quite a bargain. It may take a little bit more time to bring the price to a fully consumer friendly zone, but it isn’t far off from a price that allow it to be paired with the Rift and Vive in a bundle and not scare off the early adopters.

The VRgluv team says they already getting developer kits out to creators. Experiences such as Drunken Bar Fight and Abode are listed as compatible content and, considering they’ve surpassed their $100,000 goal with most of the month to go, that list should grow quickly. Stay tuned to UploadVR for more updates in the future.

Space of Death (Oculus Rift)

Space of Death (Oculus Rift)

“we will revisit this video game when it gets updated.”

Review program:Oculus Rift CV1
Price at period of Evaluation: £3 ($4)
Comfort Rating: Red
Genre: Horror, Shooter
Size: 660.68 MB
Controller System: Gamepad
Best Playing Position: Sitting
Multi athlete: No

Space of Death (Oculus Rift)

Intro: You wake-up into the stasis chamber after your ship crashed. You understand, that through your stasis, the spaceship had been attacked by aliens and mutants and space virus killed entire spaceship staff. “but they are they actually dead?…..”

Review: one-day I happened to be hoping to see an Aliens game in VR and evidently it is coming. But in the meanwhile, i’m still wanting some beast shooting room action, so its a beneficial task Space of Death show up in an attempt to fill that space. It’s your classic tale. You get up when you look at the stasis chamber and the ship has actually damaged. Sadly you are really the only survivor therefore the remaining portion of the team have turned into monsters.

You’re going to have to shoot the right path from the ship whilst exploring and wanting to survive. You can get 19 quantities of scary to endure in, but about you will get 6 various weapons to kill these with. With the Gamepad and played in an initial person design there are this game a little nauseating, but going sluggish and steady will cut almost all of the VR vomiting out and it’ll also assist to increase the stress for the game. Many of the time the monsters/zombies are pretty placid and slow-moving there are numerous darker scenes that will cause various jump scares despite the fact that they move at 1 / 2 the rate it is possible to.

Verdict: Unfortunately this video game is much too buggy to be reviewed at present. You seem to get caught into the flooring at the start of the game and then you don’t appear to have a gun, all you can do is open doors which can be pretty pointless. But we’re going to revisit this video game with regards to gets updated.
